The primary function of a Coarse Material Washer is the efficient removal of water-soluble clays, silt, and other deleterious materials from coarse-grained aggregate, typically ranging from 3/8" to 3" (10mm to 75mm) in size. As the coarse aggregate is fed into the tub, the rotating screw blades gently convey it up an inclined trough. Simultaneously, a constant stream of fresh water is introduced. The turbulent water bath near the feed end suspends the light, fine contaminants, which are then overflowed through weirs at the rear of the tub. 

It is particularly well-suited for producing specification material for concrete and asphalt production, as it effectively removes lightweight, corrosive clay and silt particles that can compromise the strength and integrity of the final product. Furthermore, it is invaluable in recycling operations for cleaning and dewatering demolished concrete and masonry to create high-quality recycled aggregate.
