The so-called self grinding machine refers to the grinding process that does not add any grinding medium to the mill and only relies on the mutual impact and grinding of materials to achieve grinding. So what is a semi-automatic mill?
In fact, a semi-automatic mill is aimed at some small particles of difficult to grind minerals smaller than 80mm. A small amount of steel balls (usually 2%~8%) are added to the mill, and the power of the steel balls is used to improve the processing capacity of the mill. Usually, the processing capacity of a semi-automatic mill can be increased by 10% to 30% compared to an automatic mill, and the unit energy consumption can be reduced by 10-20%. However, the wear of the lining plate will increase relatively, about 15%, and the fineness of the product will also be slightly coarse.
The semi-automatic mill is driven by a synchronous motor, which drives the cylinder to rotate through the transmission part. When the cylinder rotates, the grinding media inside the cylinder - steel balls and ore blocks - are lifted to a certain height as the cylinder rotates under the action of friction and centrifugal force. Then it is thrown at a certain linear speed, and the ore is crushed by the impact of the falling steel ball and the additional crushing and grinding effects between the steel ball and the steel ball, as well as between the steel ball and the mill and the ore block. With the help of the impact of water, the qualified ground material is sent out of the cylinder.
The structure of a semi-automatic mill has the following characteristics:
(1) The semi-automatic grinder has a large diameter and small length, resembling a flat round drum in appearance
Its length to diameter ratio (L/D) is generally around 0.3~0.35. This is because the grinding medium of the semi-automatic mill is mainly the ore itself, in order to prevent the phenomenon of ore "segregation" during the grinding process and reduce the efficiency of the mill. (Segregation refers to the concentration of large pieces of ore at one end and small pieces of ore at the other end.)
(2) Conical design of the end cover of the semi-automatic mill
The conical design is conducive to reflecting the ore block, preventing the segregation of the ore block, and making the ore block evenly mixed; A set of triangular shaped corrugated lining plates are also installed at the connection between the end cover and the hollow shaft neck, which can effectively stir the ore and mix the ore blocks evenly; A grid plate similar to a grid ball mill is installed on the discharge end cover to control the discharge.
In addition, a cylindrical screen is concentrically installed inside the hollow shaft neck, with a retaining ring at the discharge end. A self returning device with a spiral inner sleeve is also concentrically installed inside the cylindrical screen. After the slurry flowing out of the grid plate holes passes through the cylindrical screen, the coarse particles on the screen are blocked by the retaining ring to the spiral inner sleeve, and then returned to the mill by the self returning device for grinding. The products under the sieve are discharged into the space formed by the cylindrical sieve and the inner sleeve of the hollow shaft neck, and are qualified crushing products.
